According to a Kentucky State Police report, Jordan Ellison, 25, of Dundas, Ill., was operating a white International truck headed north on Kentucky 1069 when he observed a vehicle traveling south. The report said Ellison attempted to maneuver the vehicle to the right side of the road to allow the approaching vehicle ample room to pass. However, the rear passenger side tires ran off the road. When Ellison attempted to move the vehicle back onto the road, it overturned.
The report said the vehicle came to rest facing west blocking both lanes of Kentucky 1069. Ellison and his passenger, Lance Hurd, 37, Flora, Ill., were not injured. The vehicle was transporting equipment used by the oil industry. It contained a small amount of radioactive material, however, the material was not a threat.
Trooper Jonathan Murphy investigated the collision. Sgt. Rick Rice, Trooper Joseph Bartolotti, the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, Madisonville Police Department, Hanson Fire Department, Madisonville Fire Department and Medical Center Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
