Brenda Hardin, 61, Central City, was indicted by a Muhlenberg County Grand Jury today, Aug. 1, for allegedly killing Ronnie Hardin in an outbuilding. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Muhlenberg County Coroner's Office.
The indictment accuses Brenda Hardin of shooting Ronnie Hardin with a gun. The indictment of tampering with physical evidence stems from her allegedly moving Ronnie Hardin's truck.
Police were summoned to 904 W. Whitmer St., Central City, at around 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 7. Muhlenberg County Deputy Coroner Ricky King pronounced Ronnie Hardin, 64, dead at the scene.
On Tuesday, July 8, an arrest warrant was issued for Brenda M. Hardin, who was a patient at Muhlenberg Community Hospital due to the ingestion of multiple prescription medications, according to police.
On Saturday, July 12, she was released from the hospital and incarcerated in the Muhlenberg Detention Center.
Attorney General Jack Conway's Office of Special Prosecutions is handling the prosecution of the case at the request of Commonwealth's Attorney Ralph Vick.
Hardin is scheduled for arraignment at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6 in the Muhlenberg Circuit Court.
Murder is a Class A felony and carries a penalty of 20 years to life in prison. Tampering with physical evidence is a Class D felony and carries a penalty of one to five years in prison.
