HCC President Appointed to AACC Commission on Global Education

hcc building 300HOPKINSVILLE, KY. (8/14/14) — The American Association of Community Colleges has appointed Hopkinsville Community College President Dr. Jay Allen to the Commission on Global Education. Dr. Allen's term will go through June 30, 2017.

"I feel fortunate to have been selected to serve on AACC's Commission on Global Education," stated Dr. Allen. "HCC has had the opportunity to serve international students as global companies and their families relocate to our community. I look forward to sharing my experience and in turn gaining knowledge from my peers on the commission."

The Commission on Global Education is one of six commissions authorized by the AACC. It promotes institutions being globally competent and focuses on international student recruitment and retention.

According to AACC's website, their commissions were established to accomplish the following:

  • provide advice to the AACC Board and staff;

  • encourage collaboration among community college entities and organizations;

  • provide a forum for focused conversation about the important community college issues and priorities of the day;

  • provide for increased involvement in the Association by AACC member CEOs and other professional staff; and

  • provide leadership opportunities for members of the AACC Board of Directors (who serve as Chairs).
