Big Brothers, Big Sisters Receives Big Donation

bigMADISONVILLE, Ky. (8/23/14) ― Alliance Coal hosted a softball tournament to benefit the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program and presented a check donation to the agency Saturday, Aug. 23 at the YAA field in Madisonville.

“On behalf of Alliance Coal, we are glad to do this,” said event organizer Sam Chinn. “Even though there is some rivalry between all of the mines, we all came out here today, and gladly pitched in to help such a wonderful organization.”

Big Brothers, Big Sisters Executive Director Sandra Aiken said the $13,720 donation will enable the agency to continue to help children in the community.

“We really appreciate this,” said Aiken. “This will match a lot of kids in the community. And without the support of the community and the coal mines in the area, we wouldn’t be able to survive or be able to have this agency, and we are very appreciative of that.”
