DUE TO HEAVY SNOWS IN WESTERN KENTUCKY...WIDESPREAD 6 TO 12 INCH SNOWFALL AMOUNTS HAVE HAULTED AREA TRAVEL. ISOLATED 15 INCH AMOUNTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED. DRIFTS UP TO A FOOT AND A HALF HAVE ALSO BEEN REPORTED. THIS IS A DANGEROUS STORM SITUATION AND TRAVEL SHOULD BE AVOIDED IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. (National Weather Service)

accidentwinjuries2 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (3/11/13) – On Monday morning, just minutes after midnight, Central Dispatch contacted Madisonville Police regarding an accident on McCoy Avenue.
 
Officers responded to the alert and found that Glendell D. Phelps II, 24, of Nortonville, had been traveling eastbound on McCoy when the vehicle hydroplaned on a pool of water. Phelps attempted to gain control of the vehicle, but ended up traveling down an embankment, causing significant damage to the vehicle.
 
Phelps complained of neck and right wrist pain and was transported to Baptist Health for evaluation of injuries.
 
The Madisonville Fire Department assisted Madisonville Police at the scene.
