YMCA Kicks Off Annual Giving Campaign

ymca3 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (3/11/13) – The Hopkins County YMCA has started its “Annual Giving Campaign,” running all through the spring and summer seasons until their goal is met.

This Campaign is to raise money so that no child, adult or family is turned away because they are unable to pay for YMCA programs.

With the money that is raised through this campaign, the children are able to enjoy programs such as spring, summer, fall and Christmas Camps. They also offer programs like the Y5210 and Step it Up. These programs teach the children how to be team players, leaders and how to be confident. They also teach healthy habits, cooperation, understanding and responsibility. Overall, the YMCA helps to provide positive life-changing experiences in youth development. It also teaches families to have a healthier life and social responsibilities.

During the month of March, a YMCA volunteers will be doing “Call Nights” where they will be calling on the last three Monday’s to any members who haven’t donated to the campaign just yet. Also, this year’s main focus for this campaign is to get the word out. Kelly Forbes, the YMCA Sports Marketing Development Director expressed, “There are a lot of people in the community who do not know that we are more than just fitness.”

Kelly Forbes would also like the community to know that, “At the Hopkins County Family YMCA, our Annual Giving Campaign ensures no one is turned away due to inability to pay. In 2012, we were able to help more than 5,600 individuals grow, learn and thrive thanks to $540,000 in free, subsidized or sponsored programs and services.”
