4-H Announces New Teen Ambassador

4H 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (4/10/13) – Regardless of one’s background, socio-economic status, gender or race, 4-H can help make a difference in a life and guide our youth into leadership roles, gain confidence and engage within their communities. 4-H is a youth organization committed to building leaders with marketable skills to succeed in today’s society.
 
Ryan Linton, a 4-H Club member was recently given the opportunity to be his districts Teen Ambassador. “What I did was fill out an application and sent it to Mrs. Fox in eastern Kentucky. And throughout this process, they chose two people from each district and I just so happen to get picked for our district. I will be going around to state shoots and help with the youth to get more involved with their 4-H clubs,” stated Ryan.
 
The 4-H greatly depends on donations and fundraisers to fund their Shooting Sports Programs. Jeremy Teal, County Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development stated, “It’s an expensive project and while other counties with shooting sports programs charge fees up front, it is our goal not to do that. We offer local youth the opportunity to shoot, whether it is archery, shotgun, rifle or pistol, free of charge to our youth or at minimal expense. Shooting sports offer youth an opportunity to develop confidence and skill.”
 
Currently the Hopkins County 4-H Coalfield Top Shots are looking for donations. They will be having a fundraiser later this spring to help with things they need for the program.
