Owensboro Salon and Boutique Business Continues to Grow

OWENSBORO, Ky. (3/26/13) – Almost two years after first opening her business on Ky. Hwy. 54, Cara Culberson told Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce members at a ribbon cutting function at her store today that she considers herself “blessed” by how successful the operation has been.

C-Leigh-C Salon and Boutique, modeled after Culberson’s own name, offers a variety of clothing, purses, jewelry, and household items such as candles, as well as salon services.

Culberson said she has begun looking into ways to grow the business even more.

“I want to expand to a larger building within five years,” she said, noting that additional services such as manicures and pedicures for existing customers by appointment, and the possibility of setting up racks of new “plus-size” clothing that customers have asked her about offering are just two of the things that will require her to find a location with more floor space.

When asked about her decision to open a salon and boutique, Culberson said she has “always had a passion for hair.” Prior to owning her own store, Culberson worked in marketing and traveled frequently. She said she decided to leave that career and settle in Owensboro because of its community atmosphere.

“This is a good place to raise a family and start a business,” she said, adding that she chose her current location because it offered a great opportunity for “closeness” with customers.

“It’s a small, quaint area,” she said. “It’s good for relationship building.”

Culberson first opened the salon and boutique in May 2012, and operated it by herself for about five months before hiring Jessica Howard as a stylist. She said she hopes to hire additional people in the near future.

C-Leigh-C Salon and Boutique is located at 3811 Ky. Hwy. 54 in Owensboro. Please visit their Facebook Page by Clicking Here.
