Henderson Women Restart Republican Women’s Organization

republican elephant 300HENDERSON, Ky. (3/20/13) – The Henderson County Republican Women’s Club has been revived, according to a small group of five women who have worked on pulling all the details together for the past five months. The new club will officially be known as the Henderson County Republican Women’s Club or HCRWC, which is affiliated with the KY Federation of Republican Women and the National Federation of Republican Women.

New officers are: Cj Maple, President; Beverly Bailey, Vice President; Mary Anne Bradley, Secretary; and Gwen Boggess, Treasurer. Evelyn Disiena will serve as Chairwoman of the Fundraising/Events Committee. These five women initially formed the committee to begin looking into the possibility of re-establishing a Republican Women’s Club in Henderson County that hopefully will reach into Union and Webster Counties as well.

“We knew there was interest and enthusiasm in the club from comments received at the Republican Headquarters during the recent election. We quickly determined that credibility and support from the KY Federation of Republican Women’s Club as well as the National Federation was definitely needed and have formed those partnerships,” said Maple. “We will follow their principles and guidelines and have their full support in all of our efforts.”

The women have taken on the task of drawing up By-Laws, making decisions such as how often to meet, membership dues, meeting locations, goals and values, etc. While all this has been a challenge for the group, they have also determined committees to be formed for By-Laws, Community Awareness/Public Relations, Legislation and Research, Fundraising/Events, Membership, Candidate Recruiting and Education and Internet/Website Administration.

“The five of us working on the new club have accomplished so many things in such a short period of time and we are really excited to play a part in establishing HCRWC. We feel we have listened to the Republican women here and are providing what they asked for,” said Bradley.

“There will also be a Board of Directors per our by-laws,” said Bailey. “Full elections will not take place until January of 2015, and by then the HCRWC will be very strong.” She noted that the Board will be composed of elected officers, appointed officers, immediate past President and standing committee chairs.

Recruiting more members is a priority for the group, of course.

“We want to get all Republican women involved. We have so many wonderful ideas and are looking forward to the membership’s help with suggestions, being active on committees and taking HCRWC to the next level,” said Disenia.

“The first official meeting for all Henderson County Republican women will be held Thursday, April 4 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Henderson County Library in the downstairs meeting room,” added Boggess. “Future meetings will be held six times per year with membership dues set at $30.00 annually which may be paid at the first meeting by cash or check.”

“We would also like to extend a special invitation to Republican women in Union and Webster Counties to join us,” said Maple. “Associate membership dues are only $25.00 annually and this is a great Republican network for supporting their efforts in those counties.”
