HENDERSON, Ky. (3/21/13) – CSX Railroad plans to close several stretches of highway adjacent to railroad crossings in parts of Henderson County.
 
According to Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesperson Keith Todd, the targeted sections include U.S. Hwy. 41-Alternate, Ky. Hwy. 285, and Ky. Hwy. 136 in Henderson for rail crossing work on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, March 25 through March 27.
 
U.S. 41-Alternate will be closed at mile point 11.965.
Ky. 136/Madison Street/Sand Lane will be closed at mile point 20.790
Ky. 285/Old Madisonville Road will be closed at mile point 2.630
 
The closure on US 41-Alternate is just south of the Canoe Creek Bridge between U.S. 60 and The Ky. 425 Henderson Bypass.
 
The closures on Ky. 136 and Ky. 285 are near the 4-way Stop at the Atkinson Street Intersection. The rail crossings on Ky. 136 and Ky. 285 are less than 1000 feet from each other, requiring those crossings to be closed at the same time.
 
U.S. 41-A northbound traffic will be provided a marked detour via Ky. 425 to U.S. 60 East to U.S. 41-A. U.S. 41-A southbound traffic will have a marked detour via U.S. 60 West to the Ky. 425 Henderson Bypass to U.S. 41-A.
 
There won’t be marked detours for Ky. 136 or Ky. 285. Local passenger vehicle traffic may self-detour via Lee Drive and Porter Drive. Truck traffic should self-detour via the Ky. 425 Bypass & US 60. Motorists should avoid the area, if possible.
 
The roadway at these locations will be reopened as quickly as possible once the crossing work is complete.
