HOPKINS COUNTY, KY (12/17/11)—On December 16th, members of the Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 2, as well as other emergency responders, traveled to the scene of a Hopkins County traffic collision that resulted in injuries.
Occurring at approximately 6pm, the accident involved Roger Kirkwood, 63, of Madisonville, KY and both Phillip K. Duncan, 58, and Marla K. Duncan, 59, of Slaughters, KY.
As KSP Post 2 Troopers report, both Mr. and Mrs. Duncan were stopped at a red light on US-41 at the intersection KY-260 facing southbound when the incident occurred. While the couple was waiting for the light to change, Mr. Kirkwood, who was operating a 1998 Chevrolet pickup, failed to stop at the intersection and rear-ended Mr. Duncan’s vehicle.
Though all parties involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision, both Mr. and Mrs. Duncan were transported to the Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. While Mr. Kirkwood was offered medical assistance at the scene, he ultimately refused.
KSP Troopers Jonathan Carlock and Carlo Anderson were assisted at the scene by the Hanson Fire Department and Hopkins County Ambulance Services.
