HOPKINS COUNTY, KY (1/20/12)—At 7:30pm this evening, the Madisonville Police Department held a preliminary news conference regarding the discovery of unidentified human remains earlier today in the southern Hopkins County/Earlington area.
Following an initial investigation and assessment by various law enforcement groups late this afternoon (January 20th, 2012), Lt. Carter with the MPD announced that a cadaver, as well as personal items belonging to missing Madisonville, KY resident Jeremy D. Goodwin, 35, was found near the southern edge of Madisonville, KY (near the city limits).
Though the items do belong to Goodwin, the identity of the body remains unknown at this time.
It is also unknown how the body was located, if foul play was involved, or what the cadaver’s condition was at the time of discovery.
Though a specific location is unspecified, members of the MPD stated that the site of the investigation is closed to the general public and is barricaded at this time.
A full scale search and investigation with help from various law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, will take place throughout the day tomorrow, January 21st.
