FEMA Helps Purchase New Fire Truck for Uniontown Fire Department

fire dept badgeHENDERSON, KY (2/3/12) – The Uniontown Volunteer Fire Department now has one more tool at its disposal.

Local firefighters there were in desperate need of a new fire truck and have been applying for the grant money since 2003. A 1974 model fire truck has now been updated to a 2011 model, and Uniontown received delivery of the emergency vehicle in mid-January.

The new truck was purchased primarily using Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant funds. Due to the federal grant money, the community paid only $11,000 of the total $205,000 vehicle cost.

Uniontown Fire Department is a volunteer unit that utilizes the knowledge and skills of over two dozen firefighters.
