Whitfield Visits Ft. Campbell, Speaks at Livingston County Library

WHIT 1LIVINGSTON COUNTY, KY (3/5/12) – U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, joined Defense Secretary Leon Panetta Friday for the Secretary’s speech to the troops and visit to Fort Campbell.

“It is an honor to represent the men and women of Fort Campbell, home to the 101st Airborne Division. They are true American heroes,” Whitfield said. “As I have since first being elected, I will continue to fight to provide the men and women of our armed forces with the resources they need to protect the American people and confront those who wish to threaten our national interests. I remain committed to ensuring that our troops and their families have everything they need to accomplish the tasks that have been entrusted to them. As always, I intend to do everything possible to support projects at Fort Campbell that are essential to the operations of our soldiers.”

Following his visit to Ft. Campbell, Congressman Whitfield delivered remarks at the dedication of the Livingston County Library in Smithland, Kentucky.

“Like you, I understand the valuable role that libraries play in our communities,” Whitfield said in his remarks. “Not only do libraries house numerous shelves of books and multi-media tools, libraries help us learn by exposing us to new thoughts and ideas. During these uncertain economic times, when American families are trying to cut costs, public libraries remain a wonderful and affordable environment for families to learn and have fun.”
