Fatal Motorcycle Collision

breakingnews FATALACCIDENT 300TRIGG COUNTY, KY (7/4/12) – One woman has died due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle collision Tuesday afternoon. The Kentucky State Police report says the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon on US 68 near the intersection with KY 272.

According to the report, 57-year-old Jeffrey Owen was westbound on US 68 approaching the intersection of KY 272. When Mr. Owen came over a hill he noticed westbound traffic was stopped due to a motorist waiting to turn onto KY 272. Mr. Omen applied the brakes which caused the motorcycle to start skidding and lay over onto its’ side, throwing both occupants from the motorcycle.

53-year-old Debra Owen was transported to Trigg County Hospital for severe head injuries and later flown to Nashville, TN. Kentucky State Police in Mayfield was notified at 10 p.m. Tuesday that she had passed away due to the injuries sustained from the collision. Mr. Omen was treated and released for minor head injuries and shoulder pain. Neither person was wearing a helmet.

Trooper Billy Over was assisted at the scene by Trigg County Sheriff Department, Trigg County Rescue, and Trigg County EMS.
