UNION COUNTY, KY (7/11/12) – The I-69/WK Parkway southbound/westbound ramp to US 62 in Lyon County has reopened to traffic during the last hour. The ramp had been closed since about 7:30 a.m. this morning to allow the removal of a 125 ft. long pre-stressed concrete bridge beam that rolled off a special truck as it attempted to negotiate the ramp Tuesday morning.
The 60-ton concrete beam, headed to the US 60 Tennessee River Bridge construction site at Ledbetter, had to be cut into three pieces to allow it to be loaded onto trucks and removed from the ramp right of way.
Engineers have indicated a replacement beam has been ordered and is expected to be poured on Saturday. The loss of the beam in the ramp incident is not expected to delay work on the new Ledbetter Bridge.
