CRITTENDEN COUNTY, KY (10/9/12) – The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on KY 70 in Dycusburg on Monday, October 8, 2012 at approximately 1:50 p.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that James McFarland, age 37 of Kuttawa, KY., was operating a 2001 Suzuki motorcycle eastbound on KY 70. Joshua Kinnis, age 28 of Dycusburg, KY., was operating a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu. Kinnis was stopped in a driveway waiting to make a left turn onto KY 70.
It appeared to McFarland that Kinnis was going to pull into the roadway, so he applied his brakes. In doing so, he lost control of the motorcycle. The motorcycle struck Kinnis’ vehicle and a mailbox. It overturned and ejected McFarland.
McFarland, who was wearing a helmet, was flown by PHI Air Medical to St. Mary’s for treatment. Kinnis, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured. There were no passengers.
Trooper First Class Chris King conducted the investigation. The Crittenden County Sheriff’s Department, Crittenden County EMS, and PHI Air Medical assisted at the scene.
