TRIGG COUNTY, KY (11/27/12) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is investigating two collisions that occurred on Monday, November 26, 2012 at approximately 08:08 p.m. The collision occurred on US 68 / 80 just inside the city limits of Cadiz, KY.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Nicholas Wiseman, age 20 of Cadiz, KY., was operating a 1988 Chevrolet pick-up truck. Wiseman was traveling east on US 68 /80when he struck a deer. Wiseman’s vehicle became disabled in the travel portion of the road. Scotty Gray, age 47 of Cadiz, KY., was traveling east on US 68 / 80, stopped alongside of Wiseman to assist him in removing his disabled vehicle from the roadway. Gray was standing outside his vehicle assessing the damage.
Mohamed Mohamud, age 50 of Creve Coeur, MO., was operating a 2002 Freightliner tractor-trailer on US 68 / 80. Mohamud came up on the deer collision and was not able to stop. Mohamud struck Wiseman’s disabled vehicle pushing it into Gray’s vehicle. The tractor-trailer continued traveling until it left the roadway and stopped in the median. Wiseman was standing outside his vehicle at this time, was struck by one of the vehicles.
Wiseman was transported to Hopkinsville, KY with serious injuries. Gray was transported to Nashville, TN with life threatening injuries. Gray had remained in his vehicle with his seat belt on at the time of the semi collision. Mohamud was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
Trooper Thomas Clifton is continuing the investigation. KSP was assisted on the scene by the Cadiz Police Department, Kentucky department of transportation, Trigg County Sheriff’s Office, Cadiz Fire Department, Trigg County EMS, and the Trigg County Rescue Squad.
