CRITTENDEN COUNTY, KY (11/29/12) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) investigated a two-vehicle, fatality collision that occurred on US 641, just south of Marion, on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at approximately 2:59 p.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Thomas A. Sanders, age 23 of Marion, KY, was operating a 1989 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck northbound on US 641. Euell Kenneth Guess, age 76 of Fredonia, KY, was operating a 1995 Buick LaSabre southbound on US 641. As Mr. Sanders rounded a curve in the roadway, his vehicle crossed the centerline and traveled into the southbound lane where it struck Mr. Guess’s vehicle head-on.
The Crittenden County Coroner’s Office pronounced Mr. Guess dead at the scene. His passenger (wife), Hazel D. Guess, age 75, was flown from the scene to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN for treatment. Mr. Sanders was flown from the scene to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville, IN for treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Guess were wearing seatbelts. Mr. Sanders was not wearing a seatbelt.
Trooper First Class Darron Holliman is continuing the investigation. Sgt. Dean Patterson, the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Department, the Crittenden County Rescue Squad, Crittenden County EMS, Crittenden County EMA, PHI Air Medical, and the Crittenden County Coroner’s Office assisted at the scene.
