TRAFFIC ALERT – Water Over Roadways

water over road 300HENDERSON, Ky. (2/5/13) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reports the following highways in District 2 are closed by floodwaters:

UNION Co. Mile Points
KY 1452 0 to 1.982
KY 1637 0 to 2.957
KY 130 15.7 to 16.016
KY 667 0.5 to 11.2
KY 668 0 to 1

HENDERSON Co.
KY 3522 0 to 0.385

Motorists are reminded to use caution and avoid driving through floodwaters. Remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown. According to the National Weather Service, each year more Americans are killed by flooding than by lightning, tornadoes, and hurricanes combined. It only takes about a foot of water to float many vehicles off the roadway; less if the water is moving.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for several area counties. The Ohio River at Henderson is expected to crest near the level where deer that normally travel under the US 41 Twin Bridges start to move up into Audubon State Park and cross US 41 in that area. Motorists should be alert for deer near the park.

Timely traffic advisories for the 11 counties of KYTC Highway District 2 are available by going to www.facebook.com/kytcdistrict2. You do not have to be a Facebook member to access this page.
