Two-Vehicle Crash in Cadiz

traffic accident 300CADIZ, Ky. (2/20/13) – On Tuesday, February 19, the Cadiz Police Department responded to a two-vehicle accident on US 68 at approximately 11:45 AM.

Once on the scene, officers found that 64-year-old Marvin W. Stokely was on Merchant Street, attempting to cross both lanes of US 68 to enter Kentucky 3468. Stokely crossed the westbound lanes. When he attempted to cross the eastbound lanes of traffic, he struck the side of an eastbound vehicle driven by 64-year-old William P. Pater. Pater attempted to avoid the collision by steering right. The force of the impact caused Pater’s vehicle to slide sideways and overturn in the eastbound lanes of US 68.

Pater was taken to Trigg County Hospital for treatment of head and neck injuries. He was wearing a seat belt. Stokely was not injured.

Cadiz Police were assisted at the scene by the Trigg County Sheriff’s Department, Trigg County EMS, and the Kentucky Department of Highways.

Chief Chad Grace, who witnessed the crash while driving westbound on US 68, is the investigating officer.
