accident two car 300LYON COUNTY, Ky. (5/13/13) – On Friday, May 10, at approximately 4:28 PM, Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to a multi-vehicle accident with possible injuries in the Lyon County area.

Once on the scene, Troopers found that 18-year-old Katie Miller, of Kuttawa, had been traveling North on KY 93 when she approached the intersection of US 62 West. At the same time, 37-year-old Louisville resident, Jerry Wittmer and passenger, Daniel Basham, were traveling West on US 62 when Mrs. Miller attempted to turn east on US 62, pulling out directly into the path of Mr. Wittmer.

Wittmer struck the driver side door of Miss Miller's vehicle, causing her to slide across the median, striking another vehicle being operated by 19-year-old Kendra Kennedy, also of Kuttawa. Katie Miller and her passenger, Mackenzie Redd, were both transported by EMS to Baptist Health Hospital where they were admitted. Jerry Wittmer refused any treatment from medical personnel on scene. Aaron Cannon was transported to Baptist Health for his injuries and released. Katie Miller was cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle without a Valid Operator’s License.

The accident is currently under investigation by Trooper Jonathan Ward.

KSP was assisted at the scene by the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, Kuttawa Fire Department, Lyon County Rescue Squad, and Lyon County EMS.
