LYON COUNTY, Ky. (7/16/13) – On Monday, July 15, at approximately 5:47 AM, Kentucky State Police (KSP) officials responded to a report of an accident involving a car and a tractor trailer truck on I69 at Mile Marker 74.
A short investigation revealed that a tractor trailer operated by Melvin Hauschild of Louisville KY was attempting to make an illegal U-turn at the 74 mile marker on Interstate 69. Hauschild was traveling in the left lane and swerved over into the right lane to try and make a swift turn through the median when a passenger car operated by Courtney Campbell of Louisville was unable to stop. Campbell attempted to brake but was unable to come to a stop and slid underneath the trailer and became lodged in front of the trailer tires.
Eddyville Fire was able to remove Campbell and she was transported to Lourdes Hospital for injuries sustained in accident. Hauschild was not injured, and after the investigation and inspection of the semi, he was cited into court for Reckless Driving and making an illegal U-turn on a limit access highway.
