LYON COUNTY, Ky. (8/5/13) – On August 4, 2013 the Kentucky State Police and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department, conducted a traffic safety checkpoint at the intersection of U.S. 62 and State Route 810 South.
At approximately 10:00 p.m. William Mull, age 34 of Marshall County came through the check point and was stopped by Kentucky State Police Trooper Jonathon Ward. Mr. Mull was only able to produce a Kentucky ID, when asked for an operator’s license. Trooper Ward learned that Mr. Mull’s operator license was currently suspended.
Trooper Ward was questioning Mr. Mull about the license suspension, when he detected an odor of marijuana. Mr. Mull was asked about the marijuana odor, at which point Mr. Mull handed Trooper Ward a large pill bottle containing; marijuana, hydrocodone, and crystal meth. Mr. Mull was offered a standard field sobriety test and was determined to be under the influence of drugs.
A search incident to arrest of Mr. Mull’s vehicle produced a loaded handgun, digital scales and other paraphernalia associated with drug trafficking.
Mr. Mulls was charged with Operating on a suspended license, Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of Drugs/ Alcohol .08 1st Offense, Trafficking in Marijuana less than 8 ounces, Trafficking in a controlled substance 2nd Degree- 1st Offense drug unspecified, and Trafficking in a controlled substance 1st Degree- 1st Offense Methamphetamine. Mr. Mulls was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail. The investigation is continuing by Trooper Jonathan Ward.
