FREDONIA, Ky. (1/28/14) — Two people have been charged in connection with a bank robbery Monday, Jan. 27 in Fredonia.
According to Kentucky State Police, Codie L. Lady, 23, of Marion entered Fredonia Valley Bank at 11:51 a.m. Brandishing a handgun at the 602 Cassidy Avenue location. He demanded money from the tellers, who complied with his demands. He then fled the scene in a white, Chevrolet S10 pickup.
Troopers and detectives from KSP Post 2 and the Caldwell County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene and put out a description of the suspect to other officers.
At approximately 1:45 p.m., Trooper John Komar located Lady on Nichols Road. Komar ordered the occupants of the truck to stop but Lady accelerated and attempted to strike Komar, who fired one round at the approaching pickup truck without striking either occupant.
The S10 continued in flight onto Needmore Road and then onto a dirt/gravel road and into a field, where Caldwell County Sheriff Stan Hudson used his vehicle to stop the truck.
Lady was charged with first-degree robbery and four counts of wanton endangerment.
His accomplice, Lacie K. Bielecki, 29, of Princeton was charged with first-degree complicity to robbery.
Both were taken into custody but Lady was transported via ambulance to the Caldwell County Medical Center after advising officers that he had ingested a large quantity of prescription medication.
Bielecki was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
Neither of the suspects nor any of the officers were injured.KSP is continuing the investigation.
