Public Invited to ‘Stand Against Child Abuse’

child abuse pinwheel prevenOWENSBORO, Ky. (3/27/14) – April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Green River Community Collaborations for Children regional network invites you to help raise awareness.

CCC is sponsoring “The Stand Against Child Abuse” 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, on the sidewalks in front of the former Texas Gas building (3800 block of Frederica Street, Owensboro).

Sponsor agencies will provide a host of children’s activities, including face painting, balloons, bubbles, and snow cones.

This annual event helps bring attention to an issue that, unfortunately, continues to plague local communities.

There were 169 confirmed cases of physical or sexual abuse and 433 confirmed cases of neglect of minors last year in the seven-county GRADD region, according to the Kentucky Multi-County Task Forces on Child Abuse.

Citizens of all ages are invited to attend “The Stand,” and there is no registration required to participate.

For more information, contact CCC coordinator Kelli King at (270) 926-4433.
