Intrepid-1 2(Photo courtesy Jim DeMaio)OWENSBORO, Ky. (4/16/14) — A private medical practice that specializes in home health care for senior citizens in 21 states celebrated the opening of its most recent location in Kentucky this week with an open house and Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting.

Intrepid USA HealthCare Services opened its most recent office in March in the Midtown Building, 920 Frederica Street.

Intrepid Administrator Kendra Smith said the decision to open in Owensboro came as a result of multiple phone calls asking if the agency offered services in the Owensboro area. The next closest office is located in Henderson, and Intrepid also has medical offices in Morganfield and Leitchfield.

Smith said the staff of physical, speech, and occupational therapists service clients at multiple locations. Medical services provided focus on preventive and rehabilitative needs. The main goal of the agency is to help patients continue to live at their home rather than in a nursing home, and to help reduce the amount of time required for hospital stays.

Smith said joining the Owensboro Chamber was a natural part of the process, as the agency is a member of other Chambers in communities it serves, such as Henderson.

Intrepid is based in Dallas, Texas, where it originated 20 years ago. Intrepid has been in Kentucky for more than 10 years, Smith said.
