MURRAY, Ky. (4/26/14) – The Health Information Management Department at Murray-Calloway County Hospital celebrated Health Information Professionals week during the week of March 16.
The American Health Information Management Association has celebrated health information management professionals for 25 years. Health Information Management is also known as Medical Records.
The HIM department at MCCH celebrated with a luncheon and was recognized by MCCH Administration on March 19.Health information management is an allied health profession that is responsible for ensuring the availability, accuracy and protection of the clinical information needed to provide healthcare-related decisions. Health information professionals work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, physician offices and many other organizations. They play a key role in the effective management of health data and medical records needed to deliver quality healthcare to the public. The work HIM professionals do to ensure the integrity of health information is imperative to clinical and administrative decision making. Access to accurate information helps everyone make important decisions and leads to a healthy society.
