Wellness Works programs:

  • 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 7 at the Calloway County Public Library, 710 Main Street, Murray - Blood Sugar, Osteoporosis Heel Scan and Blood Pressure screenings.

  • 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday, May 8 at a Dialysis Open House at Fresenius Medical Care, 609 South 12th Street, Murray - Blood Sugar and Blood Pressure screenings.

  • 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Friday May 9 at the Mayfield-Graves County Senior Center, 901 North 15th Street, Mayfield - Osteoporosis Heel Scan and Blood Pressure Screenings.

  • 7 - 9 a.m. Monday, May 12 at Emeritus Senior Living, 905 Glendale Road, Murray - Blood Sugar, PSA and Lipids screenings (12-hr fast required, drinking water is okay).

  • 8 - 11 a.m. and 12 - 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 14 at the Center for Health and Wellness, 716 Poplar Street, Murray - Blood Pressure, BMI, Osteoporosis Heel Scan, Blood Sugar and Waist Circumference screenings. Call (270) 762-1348 to make an appointment.

  • 7 - 9 a.m. and 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 15 in the Spring Creek Health Care Station 3 Dining Room, 1401 South 16th Street, Murray - Blood Pressure, Pulse, BMI and Waist Circumference screenings.

  • 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 20 at the Weaks Senior Citizen Center, 607 Poplar Street, Murray - Blood Pressure and Osteoporosis Heel Scan screenings.

  • 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Thursday, May 22 at the Marshall County Senior Citizen Center, 1713 Golf Course Road, Benton - Osteoporosis Heel Scan and Blood Pressure screenings.

  • 9 - 11 a.m. Wednesday May 28 at the PTL South Lot, 3443 US Hwy 641 South, Murray - Blood Pressure and Osteoporosis Heel Scan screenings.

  • 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 31 at the Stewart County Health Fair at Stewart County High School, 120 Robertson Hill Road, Dover, Tennessee - Lipids, Glucose and PSA Screenings (12-hr fast required, drinking water is okay).

The screenings are free to the communities visited by Wellness Works and are provided to detect diseases in the earliest stages when there are often no symptoms.

Support groups:

  • The ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) Support Group will meet 6 p.m. Thursday, May 8 in the MCCH Board Room. For more information, contact Mitzi Cathey at (270) 293-1748.

  • The Alzheimer’s Support Group will meet 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 13 at Shared Care located in the George Weaks Community Center. For more information, call Connie Stalls, LPN, at (270) 753-0576.

  • The Lap Band Support Group will meet 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1 at the Bariatric Solutions office and 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the Center for Health and Wellness. Sean Stonecipher will present. For more information, contact Bariatric Solutions at (270) 762-1547.

  • The Sleeve Gastrectomy Support Group will meet 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1 at the Center for Health and Wellness and 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13 at the Bariatric Solutions office.   • The Breast Cancer Support Group will meet 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 27 at the Center for Health and Wellness. For more information, contact Evelyn Wallis at (270) 489-2462.

  • The Mental Illness NAMI Support Group for families and friends of persons suffering from mental illness will meet 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15 in the MCCH Educational Services Building located on the corner of 8th and Elm streets. For more information, call (270) 748-6133.

  • The Dialysis Support Group will meet 4 - 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 13 at the MCCH Center for Health and Wellness. For more information, contact Tasha Mitchell at (270) 759-3080.

  • The Stroke/Head Injury Support Group will meet 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 27 at the Center for Health & Wellness. For more information, contact Cheryl Crouch at (270) 762-1557.

Center for Health & Wellness:

  • An AARP Safe Driving Class will be held 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 at the MCCH Center for Health and Wellness. Kentucky insurances must offer a discount to those who complete the class. Pre-registration is required and the class size is limited. For more information on cost and age requirements or to register, call (270) 762-1348 or come to the front desk at the Center for Health and Wellness.

  • A free nutrition education event titled “Salad 101: Not Just Your Garden Variety” will be held 9 - 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 9 in the Center for Health and Wellness. Learn about many types of salads ranging from fresh green salads to crab and pasta salads. Get the scoop on salad bar toppings that aren't so healthy and pick up some stylish salad dressing tips. Learn the healthy way to make a salad for your entire meal and more.

  • Give the gift of Life. The Center for Health and Wellness and The Murray Calloway County Hospital Blood Donor Center are hosting a blood drive 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 14 the Center for Health and Wellness. Take the time to stop by and give the gift of life. All blood donated through the MCCH Donor Center remains here to fill our community’s need.
