cadiz police arrest5 300CADIZ, Ky. (4/28/14) — The Cadiz Police Department released the following reports Monday, April 28.

Loralee N. Smith, 27, of Cadiz, was arrested on April 23 by Major Duncan Wiggins and charged with theft under $500 following a shoplifting complaint at the Prickly Peach on Lakota Drive.  A store employee observed Smith put $82 worth of merchandise into her purse.  The store employee called police, and the merchandise was recovered.  Smith was also served a Trigg County District Court arrest warrant charging her with theft of a debit card; fraudulent use of a debit card; and theft by deception under $500.  The warrant states on March 15, Smith took a debit card from the victim and purchased $51 worth of gas from a local business.  She then lied to the victim about the whereabouts of the debit card.
 
Matthew D. Hargrove, 19, of Cadiz, was arrested on April 22 by Officer Roger Knight and served two Trigg County Circuit Court warrants charging him with two counts of probation violation.
 
• Cadiz Police received a complaint at 6:21 p.m. April 27 of a female urinating in the parking lot behind a Cadiz business. Employees gave police a physical description of the woman and the vehicle she was riding in.  Officer Roger Knight stopped a vehicle matching the description on Cunningham Avenue.  The driver, Charles Smalls III, 43, of Cadiz, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol after failing several field sobriety tests.  He was charged with DUI - second Offense (aggravating circumstances) and later registered a .256 BRAC on the intoxilyzer.  The female passenger, Cherylene Smalls, 51, of Cadiz, was arrested and charged with alcohol intoxication.  Both were lodged in the Christian County Jail.
