“The public can tell us what is beautiful or scenic by completing the Scenic Viewing and Special Places Inventory. We’re asking people to express what is valued, beautiful, and what areas, assets, or characteristics are important to them,” says Rourke McDermott, Landscape Architect on temporary detail from Valles Caldera National Preserve. “Once an inventory is created, Land Between The Lakes can develop Landscape Character Goals and Scenic Integrity Objectives to ensure preservation and protection of scenery and scenic values important to the public.”
Scenic natural beauty and aesthetic values have always been important to the guests and visitors of Land Between The Lakes. The resources of a particular landscape give that area its distinctive identity. A scenery management plan identifies the most significant scenic locations and aesthetic assets of an area, while creating more scenic viewing opportunities for the public.
