07-10-14-MCCH-Welcomes-Dr-N Nicholas O’Dell, MDMURRAY, Ky. (7/13/14) — Murray-Calloway County Hospital is pleased to welcome Nicholas O’Dell, MD, as a member of the medical staff of Murray Medical Associates, specializing in Internal Medicine.

O’Dell graduated from the University of South Carolina summa cum laude with a degree in biological sciences in 2006 before attending medical school at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina. He was awarded the Carolina Medical Scholarship and was a member of the Saunders Humanism Honor Society while in attendance, and graduated with his Doctor of Medicine in May 2011. Following his graduation, O’Dell was a Resident Physician in Internal Medicine at the University of Kentucky Medical Center where he was named Intern of the Year for 2011-2012, Senior Resident of the Year for 2013-2014 and recently was given the honor of Chief Resident of the Primary Care Track for 2013-2014.

In addition to his educational work, O’Dell is a Captain in the Medical Corps of the United States Army National Guard.

“Dr. O’Dell is a great addition to our primary care practitioners at Murray Medical Associates. His focus and expertise in Internal Medicine is evident from his high honors as Intern of the Year, Senior Resident of the Year and Chief Resident. We welcome Dr. O’Dell and look forward to his time here at MCCH,” said Jerry Penner, MCCH CEO.

When not at the hospital, O'Dell enjoys gardening, cooking, and spending time with his wife and two children. He is also an active member of the Kentucky Army National Guard where he serves as a Captain in the Medical Command.

O’Dell will be joining Murray Medical Associates in the Medical Arts Building, west wing. He begins practice Thursday, July 10 and will be initially located in suite 382W.
