child crime2 300MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky (7/25/14) — A former high school head football coach has been indicted for allegedly soliciting the use of a minor in sexual activity, unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in a sexual performance, sexual abuse in the first degree and distribution of obscene matter to a minor in Marshall County.

According to Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway's office, Ronald E. Barnard, 46, was indicted Thursday, July 24 by a Marshall County Grand Jury.

Barnard is the former Marshall County High School head football coach, who was arrested June 4 following a six-month investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff's Office.

Barnard is out of custody on a $10,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4 in Marshall Circuit Court, with the Attorney General's Office of Special Prosecutions in charge of the prosecution, according to the report.

If convicted, Barnard could face up to 20 years in prison.
