The program dates are as follows (meetings held each Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m. in the MCH Board Room): Fall Session begins Tuesday, Sept. 9; Winter Session begins Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015; Spring Session begins Tuesday, March 17, 2015.
Grief is a normal and natural reaction to loss, whether it is from the death of a loved one, divorce or end of a relationship, loss of career, loss of a substance dependency, loss of trust, loss of dreams, loss of security or loss of health. But while it is normal and natural, our society has developed many wrong ways to deal with grief, making it much harder to overcome.
“Common myths about grief like ‘time heals all wounds’ and ‘bury your feelings’ actually make it harder for us to overcome the tough times in our lives. Grieving is not a bad thing, it’s perfectly normal and a part of the process of moving forward with our lives,” said Kerry Lambert, MCCH Chaplain and Certified Grief Recovery® Specialist.
As a result of participating in this program, quality of life may become more enriched, more alive, and more fulfilled than ever before. This eight-week program will be conducted by Lambert.
The program is affiliated with, and endorsed by, The Grief Recovery Institute. This format has been developed by Russell P. Friedman, Executive Director, and John W. James, Founder of the Grief Recovery Institute; and authors of The Grief Recovery Handbook—The Action Program for Moving Beyond Death, Divorce and Other Losses.
