Dump Truck Rollover on WK Parkway

rollover accident3 yellow 300MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (7/29/13) – The Kentucky State Police investigated a three-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on the Western Kentucky Parkway, at approximately the 45 mile-marker, on Friday, July 26, 2013, at 8:00 a.m.
 
The preliminary investigation revealed that Dale Jeffers, 67 of Cleaton, KY, was operating a 1999 Kenworth dump truck westbound in the right lane of the parkway. Stephen Earle, 61 of Greenville, KY, was operating a 2008 Ford F150 pickup truck westbound in the left lane of the parkway. Eric Roman, 42 of State College, PA, was operating a 2009 Nissan Cube eastbound in the right lane of the parkway.

Mr. Jeffers changed lanes and entered the left lane in an attempt to make a “U” turn at the turnaround. Mr. Jeffers vehicle collided with Mr. Earle’s vehicle. Mr. Earle’s vehicle continued out of control and overturned. It crossed the median and entered the eastbound lanes of travel where it struck Mr. Roman’s vehicle.
 
Mr. Earle’s vehicle struck a concrete support and came to rest on its driver’s side in the eastbound emergency lane. Mr. Jeffers vehicle struck a guardrail end and came to rest partially in the turnaround. Mr. Roman’s vehicle came to rest in the left lane, eastbound on the parkway.
 
Mr. Earle was transported via ambulance to Baptist Health Madisonville for treatment. There were no other injuries reported. All drivers were wearing seatbelts. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles.

Tpr. Jerry Knight investigated the collision. Tpr. Nick Rice, the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Department, Graham Volunteer Fire Department, and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
