LEXINGTON, Ky. (8/20/13)—The Urban Family Engagement Network plans a series of workshops to help parents and guardians better understand the role they can play in their children’s education, the opportunities to participate in school events, ways to collaborate with school personnel to solve problems, and the value of joining with other families in organized, parent-focused group settings.
Space is limited to the first 30 parents who pre-register for this nine-part series, which will meet 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays from Sept. 12 through Nov. 14 (excluding Oct. 10) at the Northside branch of the Lexington Public Library, 1733 Russell Cave Road. Priority will be given to families with students attending schools in the immediate area.
To pre-register, call (859) 381-4283.
This series is made possible by a grant from the National PTA, Target and MALDEF (Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund). Other sponsors include Fayette County Public Schools, the 16th District PTA, United Way, NAACP, Urban League, Lexington Hearing and Speech Center, Community Action Migrant Program, Kentucky PTA and the Lexington Public Library.
