LEXINGTON, Ky (9/11/2013)— At 5:45 p.m. at the 9/11 memorial site in downtown Lexington at Centerpointe, a rally is planned to promote non-intervention in Syria. The group also protested at Triangle Park on Sunday night.
The Facebook event created by Marla Vice, Jennifer Shannon Ferrell, Ashley Hill and Rikka Wallin, encourages everyone to come, protest and “send the message that we will no longer tolerate the bloodshed and oppression, the lies, profiteering, and all of the abuses associated with the "War on Terror."
“This is a peace protest that is still relevant on the anniversary of 9/11.” Wallin posted on the Facebook event page. “I don't believe for a minute that our involvement in the Middle East or the rest of the world is over or will ever be over if we don't continue to speak out against military intervention or political intervention in other countries. We must never stop demanding peace.”
The peace rally is scheduled to last an hour. If you are interested in joining the event or to find out information, you can view the event page here.
