Mayor Gray Makes Friendly Wager on Kentucky-Louisville Football Game

ky gameday 300LEXINGTON, Ky. (9/14/13)— The University of Kentucky and University of Louisville football teams won’t be the only ones vying for bragging rights Saturday. Mayor Jim Gray today made a friendly wager with Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer on the outcome of the annual Governor’s Cup game.

If the Wildcats win, Fischer has agreed to give Lexington a personalized Louisville Slugger bat. If U of L is victorious, Gray will send Fischer a bottle of Town Branch Bourbon. The spirit is named for the creek that currently flows under the heart of downtown and made by Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co. In 2012 Town Branch Distillery became the first distillery built in Lexington in more than 100 years.

“There’s a lot of excitement about Coach Stoops and his team,” Gray said. “The Big Blue Nation is looking forward to taking back the Governor’s Cup!”

Kickoff is set for noon Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium. For more information, visit: www.ukathletics.com.
