The Watering Hole; Let It Be Willie’s Locally Known

willies1 300LEXINGTON, Ky (10/17/13)—‘When the brokenhearted people, living in the world agree, there will be an answer, let it be.’ Everyone was either singing along to ‘The Memory Lane Gang’ or dancing, and when I closed my eyes, I pictured The Beatles themselves up on stage.

Since the band started playing at 8, although it was a weeknight, people of all ages were able to come out and enjoy the live music, munch on their famous barbeque and wash it down with a cold brew all at one of Lexington’s local bars. Since Willie’s has multiple bars throughout their venue, there was never a wait to get a drink, and the bartenders were eager to keep my drink full.

Willie’s was a place like I’ve never been before. It had soul, hospitality and it was a place that literally made you feel good as soon as you walked through the door. When the weather cooperates there is a big patio and an outdoor stage where people can not only enjoy the music, beer and good conversation but the weather too!

Located at 805 North Broadway, Willie’s is open on Monday’s from 5 p.m to 12 a.m., Tuesday-Thursday 11 a.m.-12 a.m., Friday-Saturday 11 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. and Sunday’s 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.

Go to Willie’s tonight and see The Kentucky Hoss Cats with Nick Dittmeier at 8 p.m. If you can’t make it out during the week there will be live music all weekend starting with Matt Duncan at 8 p.m. tomorrow night followed by The New Old Calvary at 10:30 p.m. Saturday there will be a brunch from noon until 3 p.m. for the Young Songwriters Showcase, and later that night at 8 p.m. Josh Nolan and the Bad Painters will take the stage followed by Sun Street at 11 p.m. The fun doesn’t stop there because for a Sunday brunch special Woody Pines and The Kentucky Hoss Cats will be playing from noon until 3 p.m. If you are interested in playing some of your music or know a musician that will be heard at 6 p.m. until the music stops Willie’s will be having an Open Jam and Pickin’ Party!
