LEXINGTON, Ky (11/11/13)—God's Pantry Food Bank in Lexington helps serve thousands of people Thanksgiving dinner each year. On Nov. 16, the “Basket Brigade” will be held to organize dinners to those in need. In an effort to raise more awareness, funds and to assemble nearly 5,000 boxes of food for this program, the food bank coordinates the Brigade much like a walk-a-thon.
The bigger picture of the brigade is to spread the word that there are people in the community who are in need of help this holiday season, and there are simple yet meaningful ways to help them out.
The event is a way for families, coworkers, church groups and individuals to help those less fortunate and to show thankfulness during the holiday season.
For a small registration fee, participants will be given a T-shirt specifically made for the event. Each participant will be encouraged to raise pledges from friends and coworkers. Fun prizes and great volunteer activity make this event perfect for all ages.
