KMEA Selects Youngsters for 2014 Honor Choirs

kmea1 300LEXINGTON, Ky. (1/14/14)— The Kentucky Music Educators Association has chosen dozens of youngsters for its 2014 honor choirs. Students submitted recorded auditions for review, performing a predetermined selection from KMEA. The junior high groups include seventh-, eighth- and ninth-graders, and the children’s choir is composed of fifth- and sixth-graders. Congratulations to these students from Fayette County Public Schools:

Junior High All-State SATB Chorus (soprano, alto, tenor, bass)
*Beaumont: Hannah Broomhall, Benjamin Fuller, Samuel Isenhour, Rachel Severs, Max Taylor, Rachel Wagers, Lexie Warren.
*Jessie Clark: David Forish.
*Lafayette: Harrison Carter, Jason Jackson, Bonnie Kuntz, Grace Money, Sydney Mullins, Jared Sayers, Erica Scott, Bailey Tillery.
*Paul Laurence Dunbar: Tabitha Croft, Andrew Lee, Jimmy Rutherford.
*SCAPA at Bluegrass: Williams Atkinson, Thomas Bollinger, Georgia Danhires, Valerie Langdorf, Michael Nash, Kaelyn Payton.
*Southern Middle: Abby Holthaus.
*Tates Creek Middle: Brenner Blakeman, Luke Matthews, Ethan Mooney.

*Jessie Clark: Katie Copeland, Courtney Evans, Emma Owens, Lily Kate Reed.
*Lafayette: Caroline Ackerman, Madison Barbour, Constance Brown, Catarine Hancock, Allison Langdorf, Kristina Leggas, Amber Musen, Ellie Reece, Emily Sorrell, Clara Woods.
*Morton: Lauren Adams, Sarah Byrd, Brianna Voss.
*Paul Laurence Dunbar: Sadie Buck, Erin Connors.
*SCAPA at Bluegrass: Grace Brown, Caroline Capello, Anna Clay, Aubrey Dawson, Danielle Norman.
*Southern Middle: Sarah Cooper.
*Tates Creek Middle: Maria Luciano.
*Winburn: Rebecca Turney.

Kentucky Children’s Choir
*Jessie Clark: Abigail Mires, Audrey Walden.
*SCAPA at Bluegrass: Jackson Arnold, Daniel Baesler, Alden Beers, Megan Clendening, Katelyn Cooper, Abigail Cunningham, Fiona Daniel, Tabitha Gervis, Ani Hutchens, Kendall McCormick, Olivia Miley, Eliza Reed, Charles Stephenson, Ryan Svec, Alex Thibault.

These honor choirs will perform during KMEA’s annual state conference next month in Louisville; the concert begins at 5:15 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Kentucky Center for the Arts. The youngest group will be guided by Ruth Dwyer of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir, the treble chorus will be led by Debra Spurgeon of the University of Mississippi, and the SATB choir will be directed by Frank Eychaner of Colorado Christian University.
