Suspects Arrested in Multiple Area Home Burglaries

burglaryarrestswphotosPADUCAH KY (3/5/12) – On Sunday, March 4, Reggie Jones, 35 and Crystal Tracy, 36, were arrested in Hopkinsville, KY on McCracken County charges.

On February 21, 2012, Shannon Walker, 985 ½ Said Road and Jason Coursey, 985 Said Road, reported burglaries to their homes. Walker and Coursey stated their homes were forcibly entered sometime between early 6:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Electronics, firearms, jewelry and other merchandise were taken in the burglaries.

On March 1st, Teddy Fondaw reported between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. his home was forcibly entered and burglarized. A firearm, jewelry, electronics and hunting equipment were taken in the burglary. Later the night of the burglary, the Fondaws reported activity on one of their stolen expired credit cards. The credit card was unsuccessfully used at a local convenience store and local bank. Further investigation showed Jones and Tracy were the individuals who attempted to use the credit card. Jones and Tracy were observed in a dark blue Lincoln LS at Five Star.

After the Fondaw burglary was reported, Ballard County Sheriff Todd Cooper contacted Sheriff Jon Hayden regarding a burglary that occurred in La Center. Sheriff Cooper advised Russell Stewart reported his home was burglarized on February 22nd and several firearms, electronics and checks were taken. Sheriff Cooper advised one of the stolen checks had been cashed at a local convenience store. Further investigation showed Jones and Tracy cashed the check at a local convenience store and were observed in the same blue Lincoln LS.

On March 2nd, McCracken County Sheriff’s Department detectives executed a search warrant at Jones’ and Tracy’s home on Park Avenue in Paducah. Upon execution of the search warrant, stolen property from all four burglaries was recovered from the home. Jones and Tracy were not present at the time of the search warrant.

On March 3rd, detectives obtained information that Jones and Tracy were in Hopkinsville, Ky. Warrants for Receiving Stolen Property O/$500 and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument were obtained for Jones and Tracy. Jones and Tracy were located with the assistance of Detective Jimmy Berkhammer of the Christian County Sheriff’s Department.

Detective Berkhammer located Jones and Tracy as they were leaving a local motel in Hopkinsville. Detective Berkhammer obtained a search warrant for Jones’ and Tracy’s motel room. Upon execution of the search warrant, Detective Berkhammer and detectives from the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department discovered 20 grams of methamphetamine (street value $2000) inside the motel room, in a safe. Digital scales, baggies, smoking pipes, syringes and a stolen checkbook were also found in the motel room.

Further investigation showed Jones and Tracy were responsible for the burglary to the Fondaw’s home in West McCracken County. Both Jones and Tracy were charged with the burglary.

Additional charges on Jones and Tracy are pending in Christian County.
