Single Vehicle Accident Results in Fatality

breakingnews FATALACCIDENT 300PADUCAH, KY (4/12/12) – At 11:46 on the April 11, 2012, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Reidland/Farley Fire Department and Mercy Regional EMS, were dispatched to a single vehicle, rollover accident on Interstate 24 at the 16 mile marker.
 
The investigation revealed that a westbound SUV had dropped off the roadway into the median. As a result, the operator overcorrected and brought it back onto the roadway where it was overcorrected a second time. The SUV became sideways and traveled back into the median where it struck an earth embankment and began to roll across the eastbound lanes of traffic. It came to rest on the passenger side in the ditch next to the eastbound lanes of I-24.
 
The operator/registered owner of the vehicle was not a resident of Kentucky and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is not being released at this time pending notification of out of state next of kin.
 
The McCracken County Coroner’s Office is assisting in the on-going investigation and toxicology results are pending.
