Paducah Man Trapped in Vehicle after Accident

accident glass 300PADUCAH, KY (4/23/12) – On Sunday, April 22, 2012 at 10:14 PM, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle collision at the 7300 block of Old Mayfield Road.
 
Once on the scene, Sheriff’s Deputies found that 19-year-old Phillip D. Willett, of Paducah, was southbound on Old Mayfield Road. Willett was attempting to negotiate a curve when he lost control of his vehicle. Willett’s vehicle, a 2009 Chevrolet, slid off the left side of the road. After leaving the roadway Willett collided with a ATMOS natural gas meter and then overturned coming to final rest on the passenger side.
 
Willett was trapped in the vehicle and was freed from the wreckage by the Hendron Fire Department.
 
Willett was transported to a local hospital by Mercy Regional EMS with non-life threatening injuries. Willett was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.
 
ATMOS energy also responded to the scene to repair the gas meter.
