Pickup Truck VS Semi on I24

tractor trailer 300PADUCAH, KY (4/23/12) – On April 23, at approximately 8:34 AM, McCracken County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the scene of an accident with injuries on I24.

Once on the scene, Deputies found that 41-year-old James Byerley of Lovelaceville was eastbound on I24, driving a 2000 Freight liner semi-tractor trailer. Also at this time, 36-year old Jeremy Smallwood of Paducah was eastbound on I24 driving a 1993 Ford F350 pulling a trailer. The rear axle on Smallwood’s trailer lost its wheels causing it to start swerving. Byerley saw this and slammed on his breaks, causing him to start to jack knife. Byerely hit Smallwoods truck and then hit the side of the overpass at Exit 11.

One lane of traffic was closed on the east bound side for approximately 1 hour. Neither of the occupants of the vehicles were injured. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
