Driver Thrown from Vehicle in Accident

traffic accident 300PADUCAH, KY (5/24/12) – On May 23, 2012 at approximately 9:48 PM, McCracken County Deputies responded to the 11500 block of Ogden Landing Road for a report of a single-vehicle accident where the driver was ejected from the vehicle.

Upon arrival, it was found the 52-year-old Mark Ballard of New Liberty Church Road in Kevil was operating his 1993 Dodge Dakota Pick-up truck West on Ogden Landing Road. Deputies determined that Ballard started to drift off the road into the ditch. Ballard then overcorrected the vehicle causing it to flip. It was also determined that Ballard was under the influence of alcohol and prescription medication at the time of the collision. Ballard was cited to court for Operating a Motor Vehicle under the Influence of Drugs/ Alcohol 2nd Offense. Ballard has a prior conviction for DUI.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the West McCracken Fire Dept., Mercy Regional Medical, and the Ballard County Sheriff’s Department.
