pedestrian hit 300PADUCAH, KY (5/28/12) – On Saturday, May 26, 2012, a Farley man was injured after he attempted to cross John L. Puryear Drive.

At 11:50 PM, 51-year-old Jimmy S. Windsor attempted to cross the highway at the intersection of Eich Ave and was struck by a 2004 Honda Accord driven by 56-year-old Okpun Gutierrez, who was traveling eastbound on John L. Puryear Drive.

Gutierrez was returning home from work when she attempted to steer away from Windsor in an attempt to avoid striking him, but was unable to do so. This particular section of the highway is not lighted and by the time she noticed Windsor, it was too late. Gutierrez was not injured in the accident.

According to several witness statements and evidence at the scene, Windsor is believed to have been heavily intoxicated when he attempted to cross the road. Windsor was treated for his injuries on the scene by Mercy Regional EMS and was transported to Lourdes Hospital for additional treatment.
