PADUCAH, KY (6/3/12) – On June 2, 2012, at approximately 3:40 PM, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department received a call for an accident with injuries in the eastbound lane of Interstate 24 near mile-marker 9.
Once on the scene, Sheriff’s Deputies found that Morgan Vincent, 19, of May field, was operating a 2005 Nissan Altima, traveling east on I-24, when she slowed in the left lane to attempt to make a U-turn at the median interchange between the eastbound and westbound lanes, when she was struck in the rear by a 2007 Ford Focus driven by Rocky Brown, 36, of Clarksville. An investigation determined that Vincent failed to obey the traffic control device that prohibited a U-turn at that interchange, leading to the collision.
Teresa Brown, 59 years of age, of Clarksville, TN, a passenger in Brown’s vehicle, was treated on the scene and transported to Lourdes Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries by Mercy Regional EMS.
Vincent was cited for Disregarding a Traffic Regulation – 1st Offense.
Interstate-24 was not shut down as a result of this collision.
The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department was assisted on scene by Mercy Regional EMS, The Lone Oak Fire Department, and The Paducah Police Department.
