PADUCAH, KY (6/8/12) – The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single Motorcycle collision, at the intersection of Said Road and Bypass Road, in the Reidland community.
The investigation showed that 38-year-old Jason E. Sullivan of Mayfield, KY, was southbound on Said Road on a 2011 Honda Motorcycle when he lost control of the motorcycle and ran off the left shoulder of the roadway. Sullivan struck a metal drainage culvert, to gravel drive, and the motorcycle became airborne. When the motorcycle landed, Sullivan was thrown from the motorcycle. Sullivan suffered major injuries to his body and was rushed to an area hospital, by Mercy Regional Ambulance, for treatment.
Witnesses at the scene stated that Sullivan was exceeding the posted speed limit and driving very reckless before the collision. Witnesses also stated that Sullivan was passing another vehicle and popped a wheelie on the motorcycle as he was passing. When the front tire came back touched back on the roadway, Sullivan lost control.
Further investigation showed that Sullivan was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage at the time of the collision and was cited at the hospital.
The Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Mercy Reg. Ambulance Service, Reidland Fire Dept. and Meadow’s Towing to clear the roadway.
