Long-Term Investigation Leads to Drug Arrests

arrest bland phillipsPADUCAH, KY (6/11/12) – In May, 2012, the McCracken County Grand Jury indicted Cory Phillips and Lisa Bland. Both suspects were arrested by the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department during the first week of June.
 
On Thursday June 7, 2012, Cory Phillips of West Paducah was arrested on an indictment warrant for Trafficking Controlled Substances 1st Degree. Phillips allegedly sold Methadone doses to a person acting under the supervision of McCracken County Sheriff’s Department Detectives, during an investigation Detectives were conducting regarding Phillips.
 
On Sunday June 10, 2012, Lisa Bland of Paducah was arrested and charged with eighteen separate counts of Obtaining a Controlled Substance by Fraud, otherwise known as “doctor shopping”.
 
Detectives with the drug division began an investigation regarding Lisa Bland after they received a tip from the public. During the course of the investigation, detectives obtained records and spoke with numerous physicians regarding Bland. The investigation showed that on a minimum of eighteen occasions, Bland had fraudulently obtained different controlled substances from area physicians and pharmacies. Bland’s illegal activities range back at least two years.
